Data Download: DataDown

Software for Downloading Prices

Note: You do not need this program if you are using our current software.

DataDown is a program that will automatically connect to the web, download one or more data files. You can then run your investment program to load the data files and update your charts and portfolios.

We offer it free to subscribers to our data service.

Our current software incorporates this feature in the software itself making downloading and updating one simple action. You do not need this program if you are using our current software.

Download the Program

Click here to download the setup file dd.exe to your hard disc.

Save the file to any folder on your hard disc but do remember where it is!

Install the Program

Now click Start and Run... . Now type in the path and file name to run the setup program.

For example, if you saved the file in a folder called myfiles on the C: drive you would type:

c:\myfiles\dd.exe

This will run the setup program and install DataDown (normally in a folder called datadown on the C: drive).

Running the Program

The installation will place a shortcut icon (called Data Downloader) on your desktop. Double-click this to run DataDown (or click Start, then Run... , then Meridian Data Downloader and Data Downloader).

You should be able to run the program straight away by clicking either Load Daily Prices or Load code/name list. You will be prompted for your internet service provider (ISP) user name and password and then for your MeridianData user name and password as needed.

If necessary click Options on the main menu to set your Connection details. You should not normally change the Web Site details (apart from user name and password) or the Data Files information.

Normally the data files will be saved in the program folder (c:\datadown). That can be changed to another folder, if required, in Download details.
